One Little Black-Eyed Susan
One little Black-eyed Susan
wandered into my yard one day,
I don’t know where she came from
but I invited her to stay.
She seemed so bright and sunny
and she required little care,
And everyone who saw her
thought her beauty to be rare.

Soon her roots spread deep, she fell asleep,
flowers no longer grew,
Then, after fall and winter’s silence,
they all said “hello” anew.
Now, during summer days she reigns
as nature’s golden queen,
When all the Black-eyed Susans bloom
and make a garden scene.
So, be mindful when small flowers
may often come your way,
For time will pass and soon you’ll have
one large, beautiful bouquet.
