Since 2005, we’ve awarded scholarships to college students studying horticulture in all its many facets. 

$2,000 Scholarship

 

Madison Burns

  • LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
  • UC DAVIS – FRESHMAN
  • 4.0 GPA
  • WITH HER DEEP LOVE FOR GARDENS AND GREENERY, SHE PLANS TO CREATE MORE LIVABLE CITIES WITH URBAN GREENING TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING FOR ALL WITH INCREASED ACCESSIBILITY. SHE PLANS TO START HER OWN COMPANY.  CURRENTLY IN THE HONORS PROGRAM WHILE EARNING DEGREE AND MENTORED BY A LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT PROFESSOR AND ON THE DEAN’S LIST.

Isabella Stone

  • ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
  • WILLIAMETTE UNIVERSITY – SOPHOMORE
  • 3.9 GPA
  • GREW UP NEAR THE SIERRA NEVADA FROM CAMERON PARK AND INTERESTED IN RESTORING THE FORESTS. SHE IS LOOKING FOR INTERSHIPS OVER THE SUMMER FOR HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE IN FOREST MANAGEMENT AND CONSERVATION.  SHE’S DEMONSTRATED HIGH STANDARDS AND PROBLEM SOLVING DURING THE STRESSFUL PANDEMIC, FIRES AND UNREST AT THE CAPITOL ACROSS THE STREET WHILE COMPLETING HER COURSEWORK.  VOLUNTEERED AT THE ZENA FARM CLUB PLANTING NEW CROPS AND GAINING AGRICULTURAL EXPERIENCE.

Robert Swenson

  • AGRICULTURE BUSINESS
  • CONSUMNES RIVER COLLEGE – FRESHMAN
  • 4.0 GPA
  • PLANS TO COMPLETE AA THEN CSU – FRESNO IN 2023.  WITH A PASSION FOR AGRICULTURE. HE HAS EARNED AWARDS THROUGH FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA IN SPECIALTY CROP PRODUCTION.  HE WORKS ON A WORKING HOP FARM ON ALL PHASES OF GROWING AND REPAIRING TRACTORS AND ABLE TO RUN A SMALL FARMING OPERATION.  THERE’S MANY MORE SKILLS TO LIST HERE INCLUDING FABRICATING EQUIPMENT TO WOODWORKING.  HIS GOALS ARE TO BECOME A FARM MANAGER OR FARM CONSULTANT IN THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY.
